Have you guys seen the Show Reel at Pro8mm.com ?? Some quality on that footage!!
Didn?t really think Super 8 could be THAT sharp. (!) That?s just incredible.

i thought it looked pretty average. a little better than most telecined stuff i've seen, but nowhere near even the worst projected image i've seen. if we're talking sharpness that is. the latitude and color fidelity of those vision stocks is of course excellent compared to k40, but i already knew that from shooting a lot of 16mm.

I haven't seen it yet, but even the worse footage I've ever shot, looks incredible in a little 320x240 or whatever window, considering that when you shrink stuff, it gains in resolution big time.
How big are the windows, and how many frames per second are they showing?
I'm guessing NOT full screen video at 30fps.
And it doesn't mean they aren't still rude and overpriced...

480x320, 30fps. close enough for you? ;-)

I went to their website after I made my above post to take a look.
Sure enough, it's a little window (as you pointed out above).
This is the same video that they send out on VHS, which I have.
It doesn't look too impressive on the VHS either, and apparently, they hired someone with a nervous disorder to be cameraman, because it is jerky, shaking all over the place.
Great way to make the grain not so noticable; keep whipping the camera and shaking like a madman, so people can't focus in on those great big areas that look like Gnat storms...
Terrible looking stock, really.
Kodachrome 40 is the only way to shoot on Super 8...

little? 480x320 is the same as broadcast ntsc, which is around 350x480. if the window is small on your screen, perhaps you should enlarge it? ;-) the compression is pretty heavy though, bringing the overall look down to below vhs quality.
